Kirsty Sapsford
Fine Artist
My work is inspired by microbiology, psychology and human nature; I have a morbid fascination with the monotony of the daily grind and the looks of complacency and bordom on the faces of Londons commuters. Bigger questions about mortality and purpose lead on from this curiosity and I explore these through my black and white works.
The need for a release from these ideas spurned my colour work which serves as a visual escape and is based around patterns from microbiology which, as a subject, reveals an altogether different world with simpler values and a sense of purity that appeals to me because of its separateness from the human condition.
