My practice looks at the boundary between public and private and tries to question our access to the personal. I’m deeply interested in body language and investigate this through gesture, interactions, and relationships within my practice. My motivations come from the everyday and modern society: with some of my images taking on Jeff Wall’s ‘near documentary’ process.
I am currently working in photography, exploring the qualities of both film and digital processes, combining the two to give me the unique qualities of each. My photographs sit between the real and the staged; this helps them in evoking familiarity and yet unease. The use of varied compositions and scales has helped me to unsettle the viewer.
I create series of work, generating interchangeable narratives and endless possible interpretations to the work. Each series informs the next, broadening my ideas and deepening my interests.
