Susan Calvert
Illustrator
Currently studying BA Illustration at Camberwell College of Arts with the University of Arts London my work takes a fine art approach whilst fulfilling the briefs for Illustrative purposes.
I tend to explore concepts relating to identity of body and anatomy, challenging social preconceptions and unjustices. I love to work with the human body, its form both externally and stripped back to its inner physicality and function
My work hints at expressionism sometimes in a more abstract style focusing on liberal mark making and technique exploration. I am constantly exploring tactility whilst evolving materials and textures. I work large scale optimising space and exploring scale experimentation.
I get involved with Arts Fesitvals, volunteering and contributing to community projects. My true passions are socially directed, using art as therapy and creating a unanimous interest in visual therapy and understanding across class, age, gender and nationality. I see art as a divided aspect in society that needs to become cohesive across the board, whilst still retaining its individual and subjective message.
