Gary Simmons
Encaustic Textured Art
Gary Simmons was born in England in 1958.
He has lived in London, Los Angeles, the Caribbean and Southern France.
It was whilst living on the French Riviera, a region rich in history of famous artists, that he discovered an original technique never before seen in the art world.
Using heat resistant wax, he created three-dimensional textured paintings unique with his medium.
The inspiration came from the sun bleached faded facades of the Mediterranean that had been weathered exposing layers of paint, texture, and stories of time gone by.
The work resembles ancient eroded relics of art with textures of the natural elements in wood, slate, aged stone, and oxidized metal. The viewer becomes absorbed in the discovery of the many textures, forms and colors, which evoke a feeling of presence, calmness, balance, and well-being.
Gary has exhibited in London, Paris, Monaco, and Cannes.
His work has been commissioned by top in interior designers, hotels, super yachts, and private villas on the Cote d Azur. He has sold in Norway, Germany, Italy, America, Dubai, and Ireland.
Gary is happy to take commissions to produce similar works to the ones displayed or something different depending on your preferences.
