William Bock
Fine Artist
William is a visual artist whose work encompasses painting, illustration and theatre making.
Originally trained as a theatre designer at Central St Martins in London, his work investigates visual storytelling through portraiture, printing making and performance.
'As an artist I am fascinated with the tradition of storytelling and how the different ways of telling our stories impact on what we can uncover about ourselves and how we are understood by others'
The Last Bock is an ongoing project in which William is attempting to catalogue and gather information on his family line, as relatives, memories and his own history start to disappear in time.
William's illustration subject matter varies but all maintain a strong emphasis on character and atmposphere through expressive use of watercolour and ink.
Alongside his studio practise, William produces and facilitates theatre projects that explore community, ceremony and folklore. He is currently the co-founder and artistic director of the London based theatre company StrangeWorks.
William's work is being exhibited as part of our Art Crawl! To see his work come to The Alwyne Castle (83 St Pauls Road, London N1 2LY), opening night 24th August 7pm-11pm. The exhibition will run until 18th September.
